What to Bring to Your Senior Session That Makes Photos More Personal | Columbus & Augusta Senior Photographer

Planning your senior photos is exciting, but a lot of seniors tell me they are not sure what to bring to their session besides outfits. Clothing is important, of course, but the little personal touches you include can make your photos feel even more meaningful. The best senior sessions reflect who you are right now and what has been important during your high school years.

One of my favorite things seniors bring is something connected to an activity they love. It could be a volleyball, a guitar, a pair of dance shoes, or even a letter jacket. These kinds of items help tell the story of what your days have looked like during this season of life. Years from now, those photos will remind you of the things that filled your time and made high school special.

Sports equipment is always a great option if athletics have been a big part of your experience. Whether it is a soccer ball, basketball, cheer pom poms, or a track baton, these items add personality without making the entire session feel like a sports shoot. We can mix them in for a few photos while still capturing plenty of classic senior portraits.

Another fun idea is bringing something that represents a hobby or creative interest. Maybe you love painting, baking, reading, or playing music. These little details can help your photos feel more like you instead of looking like everyone else’s senior session. Even something simple like a favorite book or a sketch pad can create a unique moment in your gallery.

Accessories can also add variety without much effort. Hats, sunglasses, or a cute jacket can instantly change the look of an outfit. A blanket or small stool can also be helpful for relaxed poses, especially if we are shooting in a field or outdoor location around Columbus or Augusta.

Of course, you do not need to bring a suitcase full of things. A few thoughtful items are usually perfect. The goal is not to clutter your photos but to add small pieces of your personality. I always help seniors decide how to incorporate these items so everything feels natural and easy.

Senior year only happens once, and your photos should feel like a snapshot of who you are during this moment in your life. If you are starting to plan your senior session, I would love to help you create images that feel personal, fun, and completely true to you.
