How to Choose the Right Season for Your Senior Photos in Columbus & Augusta

One of the biggest decisions seniors don’t realize they’re making is when to take their photos. It seems simple at first, but the time of year you choose actually shapes the entire look and feel of your session. Around Columbus and Augusta, each season brings something completely different, so picking the right one really comes down to your style, your schedule, and what you want your photos to say about you.

If you’re drawn to soft colors and a light, airy look, spring sessions are such a good fit. Everything starts blooming, the greens are fresh, and the temperatures are comfortable without being too hot. It’s also a great option if you’re involved in fall sports and know your schedule will be packed later in the year. The only thing to plan for is a little flexibility with weather since spring can be unpredictable.

Summer sessions are perfect if you want that glowy, sun-soaked look. The days are longer, which gives us more flexibility with timing, and everything feels vibrant and alive. That said, it does get hot here, so I always recommend lighter outfits and being open to later evening sessions when the sun is lower and the temperatures are more manageable.

Fall is easily the most requested season, and it’s easy to see why. Warmer tones, golden light, and a slightly cozier feel make these sessions really stand out. If you love rich colors and that classic autumn look, this might be your season. Just keep in mind that it books quickly, especially for seniors around Columbus and Augusta, so planning ahead makes all the difference.

Winter sessions are the most overlooked, but they can be so good. The light is softer, locations are less crowded, and you can get a really clean, simple look that feels different from everyone else’s. Layers, textures, and neutral tones photograph beautifully this time of year, and it’s a great option if you want something a little more unique.

At the end of the day, there’s no “right” season, just the one that fits you best. Think about your schedule, your style, and what kind of photos you’re naturally drawn to. If you’re not sure, I’m always happy to help you figure it out so your session feels intentional from the very start.

If you’re ready to start planning, reach out early and we’ll lock in a season that fits your vision before dates fill up.
