Hair Accessories for Senior Sessions
All the hair accessories are making a comeback (hellooooo butterfly clips!) and while you may not be back in elementary or junior high, there are ways to make the hair accessories more modern for your session. I love a great hairdo, but I always encourage clients to test anything out before their session to make sure you love it and the way it photographs. I love the trends of claw clips and beaded accessories, but you definitely want to pair these with more neutral and classic outfits so it doesn’t look overly trendy or will be dated too fast.
-Look for good quality hair clips: I recommend checking places like Marshalls or TJ Maxx to find good quality hair accessories that won’t break. Look for neutrals like tan, black, or tortoise for something that you can wear repeatedly and that will look good with any outfits.
-Have a hairdresser guide you if you’re unsure: a professional can help you style your hair or select the right size accessory for your hair and outfit. If you have a hairdresser who usually cuts or colors your hair, they can help you through what will look best for a photo, too.
-Start small: If you’re easing into using more hair accessories like scarves, clips, or bobby pins, start with a small size to determine how it looks and how frequently you’ll wear them. A cute gold tone bobby pin can add a lot to an every day outfit or ponytail.
Your hair matters for your senior session, but knowing how to incorporate trends into your everyday life is important too. You want to have sustainable styles that you can repeat, not just ones that you’ll invest in and never wear again.
