Places to Find Inspiration for Your Senior Session
Senior sessions can be hard to plan, when you have a fear or replicating or “copying” someone else’s style. Everyone wants something original, and they want something memorable (that everyone else will envy!). There are so many creative ideas out these days, like smoke bombs in your school colors, including your truck or car, or even a beloved pet! I always want to meet with the seniors I work with to make sure I get to know them and can bring their vision to life, but I do encourage them to find what they love by doing a little research beforehand if they want! It’s fun to see ideas and inspiration that makes them happy, so that I can really nail what they’re wanting. Of course, here at JFP, we are experienced and well versed in the art of senior photos, so we always ask our clients to trust our process, but we love seeing what things really make you feel alive. Here are some ideas of where to find inspiration for your wardrobe and session:
-Poses: Many seniors are nervous about posing, and I always help guide them through the process, so there’s no need to stress. It helps to look at sites like Pinterest and other senior related publications to see which poses you really don’t like so I can avoid them if possible. Some seniors really love the ones of them laying down in the grass or fields, or sitting in a modern, urban area, and some really don’t. I want to know!
-Outfits: We recommend looking at clothing sites of the style you’re hoping for. If you love the bohemian, free spirited look, check out the Free People and Anthro websites, because they will have tons of ideas for posing and wardrobe. Even though they are expensive websites, they have inspiration that you may be able to find elsewhere for a better deal. If you like a crisp, modern look, check out Zara or H&M, and you just may snag that perfect piece for your wardrobe too! It can help to view entire outfits on sites like these, because it shows what photographs well.
-Locations: I am happy to provide you with some location options, and share my favorite spots that I have personally selected for you. Depending on where we go, we will get creative with the wardrobe and posing so everything flows together.
-Products: It never hurts to know what you are looking for when it comes to products and prints. As always, we can help guide you to what things will work best in your dorm room, office, or home, and how to incorporate them so your images always look their best. Check out home decor catalogs and websites like Pottery Barn, if you are wondering how to add frames or gallery items in, so that you can show off your gorgeous session. We also have found great inspiration on sites like Etsy, in order to see how they arrange pretty decor items.
Remember that we are always here to assist you through the process of booking, scheduling, and planning your senior session!
