New Reads and Podcasts for Fall

We know you’re gearing up to start school (if you haven’t already), and it’s nice to have something fresh to listen to and read and you transition back into the academic year. If you have a long commute, podcasts are a great way to catch up on daily news and events in the world, or to follow a compelling story. When you need to decompress from a hard week, a great book and a bubble bath are the perfect way to refocus your tired brain! Here are our picks for the latest books and podcasts:

-Carrier: Available on Apple podcasts. This podcast is a dramatized story, and it will keep you on the edge of your seat! It’s voiced with sound effects, and it really pulls you in. It follows a long haul truck driver and some mysterious cargo that she’s asked to carry. It’s intriguing and seriously addicting! (Caution: has language)

-22 Hours: This one is great for fans of true crime stories, and it builds to a terrifying conclusion, with new episodes being added each week. It follows the murder mystery of a DC family, and why they were killed and by whom. It has violence and language due to the content.

-The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Park: This is a great fictional read about a family and their personal history. The characters are rich and nuanced, and the dialogue is smart and realistic. If you like books with interesting family drama, and great plotlines, this is a winner.

-Florida by Lauren Groff: Another book about a family and their internal histories and drama, this one is spectacularly written, and has beautiful dialogue. It’s a hefty read, but it’s well worth the time (stick with it in the middle, even when it seems slow).

-Girl, Stop Apologizing by Rachel Hollis: This is an inspiring non-fiction read that will encourage you to take control of your life. It’s the sequel to “Girl Wash Your Face”, and it’s all about learning to stop apologizing for the way you live your life and make your decisions. It’s the ultimate girl power read!
