Ways You Can Make Your Senior Session Easier
Having your senior photos done can feel like one more thing to get “done” on an already lengthy to-do list. I definitely understand, because senior year can feel SO packed. But I always encourage my senior clients to prepare and educate themselves with all the info, so that they can go in feeling confident and peaceful. Ultimately, the goal is for you to create beautiful memories on the day of your shoot. Here are a few ways that you can prepare:
-Review poses and locations that you love: Most photographers have a portfolio that you can review, to see examples of places you would like to use. You can request locations or similarities to other sessions, or you can bring ideas of your very own! I’m happy to list off some options of locations, or help you choose if you’re unsure. Looking at a portfolio can also give you ideas of poses, although I am always available to help guide you through poses during your shoot. Most clients don’t know how to pose or what looks good on camera, but even a general idea of poses can help.
-Know what prints and products you want to buy: Purchasing your prints and products afterwards is a big decision, so you want to know ahead of time what things you love, such as an album or a large framed picture. You can ask to see samples or examples of items, and then consult with your parent or guardian to decide which things you want to hang up or display. Making a short list of these items can help the ordering portion feel much smoother and simpler.
-Get enough sleep and rest: Everything feels stressful when you are in senior year, and it’s important to get enough sleep and rest. You’d be surprised with how much sleeplessness or stress can show up in a session. Do your best approximately 2 weeks before your shoot to get proper rest and sleep, so that your skin and eyes look healthy and rested. Make sure to drink plenty of water, too. Hydration is a super big part of looking well-rested on such an important day!
Your senior session should be a happy, peaceful day! By doing some small things like above, you can make sure that day is the best it can be! Remember that I am always here to consult with, whether you need wardrobe tips or inspiration!
