Five Places to do a Senior Session

When we select a location with a client, we always strive to make sure it’s one that shows off their personality and their style. Your location should be an extension of the vision for your shoot, and should be somewhere you love and want to be photographed at. Here are five spots to consider for your own senior shoot:

  1. Urban location: A downtown, city setting is perfect for a fashionista. You can walk down sidewalks, or sit near cool buildings to achieve the editorial look that you are going for. This is perfect for chic outfits like leather jackets, fancy formal dresses or cocktail attire, and anything with heels! We love doing urban, styled sessions.
  2. Country setting: An outdoor field or farm-like setting isn’t always the easiest to find, but looks beautiful with bohemian styled outfits and accessories. It also works perfectly with boots, jeans, and other more casual attire (think crochet dusters, ankle boots, cowboy hats, etc), if you are someone who wants to include those aspects into your shoot.
  3. A meaningful place: I have seen some seniors who request a session at their family home or a place that means a lot, like their dance studio or their place of work. While this can be a bit more time intensive (sometimes we need to get permission from the location), we always do our best to accommodate something you feel passionate about, and we will always listen to your ideas.
  4. School or library: Your school is somewhere you have spent so many hours, it makes sense that you might want to include it in your session. We can also include the sports field/track/bleachers if you were someone that did school sports (and with permission from your school). Another great idea is the school library, which can be a really fun place to get photos of you reading or studying if that’s something that you would like.
  5. Photographer’s choice: Some clients aren’t sure where they would like to do their shoot, and that’s okay! I am always happy to provide ideas and inspiration for you, and to help point you in the direction of some of my favorite locations. I have an arsenal after doing photographer for so many years, of several places that you will love!
