What 2 Wear Wednesdays | Balmain x H&M Fall 2015
Were you one of the lucky ones to get your hands on one or a few of the pieces from the Balmain x H&M Fall 2015 release on November 5th? LUCKY YOU!!! It flew off shelves, and many pieces ended up on Ebay, selling for double or triple what they cost! If you haven’t heard of Balmain, it was founded by Pierre Balmain, and has been around for decades. It is credited with bringing fresh insight to French style, and designers such as Oscar de La Renta have contributed to the success of the brand. It skyrocketed to new popularity around 2009, and now celebs flock to the elite brand for it’s asian and french influences. Celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Gigi Hadid wear the brand, and the pieces they have been wearing were similar to the styles of the H&M pieces released.
The pieces sold out nearly instantly after the stores opened the day the collection released, and many stores experienced near panic as shoppers tried to get their hands on the more affordable items. As you can see below, Balmain favors unique textures, structured shoulder lines, and details like draping and studs/buttons.
