I wanted to take a break from my usual posts to highlight something wonderful that happened. Back on October 6th, Dennis and I sponsored Polo Under the Stars, an event to raise funds for Friends of the Animal Shelter (FOTAS). It was such a success! We raised more than $8,400 for Aiken County Animal Shelter, and it’s already in good hands helping make every end meet. This is such an important part of our community, and it’s my pleasure to draw support for them. The center of the whole fundraiser were the polo games, and boy, were they spectacular!
Over 700 people attended to watch the games from the United States Polo Association Delegates Cup tournament, while the youth teams kicked off the festivities, and Maybe Ortiz captured some beautiful images. I don’t know how often you’ve seen those brave souls – horse and rider – run full speed around Firestar Farm, but when they’re racing around each other after the ball, your adrenaline spikes alongside theirs. The Trapeze polo team won a close match of 15 – 12 against the Wildcat team, with Dennis on the victorious side! It made for a memorable evening, alongside the scrumptious meals from the food trucks and the delicious drinks from the open bar.
I love so much being able to make a difference in my community. Alongside the hard work of so many wonderful people, we’ve made a bit more progress in supporting FOTAS and those who run it. Being able to provide an entertaining evening and doing it for a good cause is a very fulfilling thing, and it brings joy to my heart to see the positive effect our work has on the animals in the shelter. I believe the most important things are the things we do for others, and I hope to live that out in my life as much as I can. And if we can involve polo, dinner, and drinks at the same time, then all the better!
