What If I’m Not Excited About Senior Photos?

As a senior photographer, I get a lot of questions about senior photos, but one that I hear more often than I’d like is, “What if I’m just not excited about senior photos?” I totally understand. Senior year can feel like a whirlwind of activities, emotions, and expectations, and sometimes, taking pictures can seem like just one more thing to check off the list. I get it—you’re not alone! But, let me reassure you: there’s a lot more to this process than meets the eye, and I want to help you make the most of it.

First things first: senior photos are all about you. They should be a reflection of who you are at this moment in time. I don’t want you to feel like you’re stepping into a cookie-cutter session where you have to look a certain way or fit into a predefined mold. I’m here to help bring out your personality and your interests. Whether you love sports, music, fashion, or nature, your photos can showcase that unique side of you. Senior photos are about capturing you at your best, but most importantly, about capturing you—not someone else’s idea of who you should be.

I know the pressure to have perfect photos can be overwhelming. Sometimes, it’s hard to feel excited about something that feels like just another task to complete. But let me tell you, the excitement doesn’t always come in the form of traditional “photo day” excitement. It often comes after the session when you look at the final photos and realize, “Wow, this is me in my element.” That sense of pride in who you are—and how you’ve grown during your high school years—is incredibly powerful. And it’s all about making sure the photos reflect your true self, not some artificial standard of perfection.

If you’re feeling a bit unsure about the whole process, that’s perfectly okay. Sometimes, the idea of posing and performing for the camera can be intimidating, especially if you’re not used to being in front of one. But I promise, I’ll guide you through every step. We’ll start by chatting about what makes you you—what you like, what you’re passionate about, and how you want to be portrayed. From there, we can choose the perfect outfits, locations, and vibes that will make you feel comfortable and authentic.

Even if you’re not jumping up and down with excitement, that’s okay. My goal is to make you feel at ease, no matter how you’re feeling going into the session. The magic happens when you stop stressing about “doing it right” and just enjoy the moment. Trust me, you’ll be surprised by how much fun it can be once you start getting into the groove of it. And if you don’t feel like smiling the whole time? That’s totally fine, too! Some of the most stunning portraits are the ones with a quiet, introspective expression—because they tell a story.

At the end of the day, I want your senior photos to feel as personal and meaningful as possible. I’m not here to force excitement or perfection; I’m here to help you capture your high school journey in a way that feels right for you. So, if you’re not super excited about the idea right now, no worries—I’ve got you covered. Let’s make this a session you can look back on with pride, knowing that your photos are a true reflection of who you are.
