Choosing Your Best Colors
Did you know that you can find out what colors look best on you?
You might have seen some reels on Instagram about choosing your “season” or your best colors, from accounts like House of Color. It’s fascinating and can be done for anyone and help them discover what makeup and clothing styles look the most flattering. This is a great thing to do before senior photos, so that you truly shine in every image. If you want to find out the best colors for you, you can take a quiz (simply google color analysis) or you can schedule an in-person analysis with a color expert (again, using google to find an in-person stylist). Here are the basics:
The “seasons” are winter, spring, autumn, and summer, and are divided amongst warm and cool tones. The season you are depends on your skin’s undertones and the color of your hair and eyes. Some of the benefits that come from having your colors “done” is knowing what kind of makeup and clothing will look best and no longer wasting money on things that you won’t wear or that don’t look flattering on you.
Knowing your seasons can also help you eliminate things from your wardrobe that you won’t wear and finally understand why. We all have those blouses or dresses that just don’t quite work on us and we may have never realized why they just never looked like what we imagined once we got them home. It can also help you avoid buying things that you don’t realize photograph poorly, like the wrong shade jewelry or lipstick.
If you’re still wondering what color analysis is all about, you can choose a site like Colorwise Me that shows you some examples of the seasons and what one you might be. If you have questions, please let me know and I can also help guide your outfit choices and makeup as you prepare for your session!
