Preparation: Making Your Life Simpler
Preparation hasn’t always been my strong suit, but as I have gotten older, I have learned that preparing for things really makes my days run more smoothly. I thought I’d share some idea that may be helpful for those who have recently graduated:
-Meal prepping: It’s not just an Instagram trend, it really does help you eat more healthily and spend less money on eating out during busy weeks. If you’re a senior who has just graduated, you are likely working or scouting colleges, and it can be one of the busiest seasons of your life! Here are some things you can meal prep: Mason jar salads (where you layer ingredients into mason jars and keep them in the fridge. Add dressing just before you serve them so that they don’t get soggy), batch cooking a ton of proteins, carbs, and veggies so you can easily make a bowl (add sauce on top). Examples are: brown rice, noodles, chicken, shredded pork, sweet potatoes, and broccoli. You can turn these into just about any type of bowl (Mexican, Italian, Spanish) just by changing sauce from soy sauce or marinara, etc.
-Budget planning: Planning ahead can really save you a headache when it comes time to pay a large bill for college or your car or apartment. Begin now by planning out your income if you’re working, and setting aside amounts for car repairs, textbooks, food, clothes, and gas. Learning to be disciplined with your money now is a skill you will love having, and one that will benefit you for the rest of your life! Always set aside a percentage of your income for savings, if you are able, as it can be a good cushion if there is an emergency.
-Prepping for senior photos: If you’re a junior, you know senior photos are coming up! It’s best to begin planning your outfits and ideas early on. That gives you time to find clothes that you love, and not be rushing around at the last minute trying to decide on a photographer, a theme, or the right shoes. Reach out to us today to schedule a session, and let’s get going! Other things you can do to prepare for that shoot now are: practicing great skincare, browsing photographers and their available dates, and having the discussion with your parents about prints, products, and the price they want to pay or pitch in.
