Hoops: The Earring of 2021

You may have noticed the hoops are making a real statement lately! From celebrities to everyday looks, they’re all over the internet and social media, and they’re not just for a nineties style look anymore. They look good on everyone, and they go with just about ANY outfit, from casual to dressier ensembles. Here are our favorite options:

Source: Amazon

The thicker, lightweight hoop: We love this cool, modern option that feels like something from the eighties. It looks deceivingly heavy, but is super light! It won’t weigh down your ear or cause damage to your lobe. They range in price from about $8-$20 on Amazon, and they look amazing with chunky sneakers and a cute sweater and jeans.

The big, thin hoop: An oversized hoop looks great with dressier items like maxi dresses and heels, and can add some simple elegance to a plain outfit. Be sure to be careful if you have long hair, as it can easily get twisted into the thin hoops and be hard to untangle. You may try these initially with your hair up.

The plastic, patterned hoop: a lightweight, patterned hoop is more fun and has more personality than a plain gold or silver version. You can find tons of these on Amazon, and they add a lot of interest to a more eclectic outfit. They weigh next to nothing, and come in many colors, which means you can match them to different tops or dresses without breaking the bank. Be sure to limit other accessories if you wear them, so that they’re not overly distracting.

The mini hoop: A tiny gold hoop is the perfect, understated accessory. You can even find hoops nowadays that you can wear while you sleep! We like the ones from Made By Mary, which are teeny, and very comfortable so they don’t slip out of your ears while you are sleeping. Look for something called a “Huggie hoop” for the tiniest versions online. And look for real gold, so that your ears will not be overly sensitive with lots of wear.
