Tips for Planning out 2021

Okay, we know none of us saw 2020 coming, but as we gear up for a new year, we are remaining hopeful! We have put together some of our best tips for you as you prepare for January 1! It helps to keep a positive mindset, especially with so many unknowns in our country and world.

-Get a great planner: Whether you use your phone or a paper planner, you want to find the right method for planning and scheduling out your schoolwork, work projects, or personal life. We love the planners from Golden Coil, because they are fully customizable, and have so many cute designs to choose from. You can customize all the pages for the things that you need.

-Find something to look forward to: Even if big vacations or trips to Disney World aren’t in your future, you can still find things to look forward to. Your birthday, graduation, holidays…these can all help break up the long months of social distancing or changes in plans. It’s okay to even mark smaller milestones, like a week of exercising regularly, or finishing your senior project. Studies show that celebrating small milestones or occasions can help our mental health.

-Use positive affirmations and quotes: As we prepare for a year filled with unknowns, it helps to find some positive affirmations and quotes that you can display in your home or bedroom, or even your car! Use them as your wallpaper on your phone or laptop, and whether it’s scripture, quotes, or poetry, focus your mind on things that keep you positive and hopeful.

-Embrace the opportunity to change: In a hustle and bustle world, not knowing what lies ahead can feel overwhelming or scary. Learning to embrace change and uncertainty can be the difference between feeling overwhelmed and being ready to make positive changes in your life. This is a hard time in the world, but we can also benefit from more quality time with loved ones, new hobbies, and even learning skills like cooking or drawing. We also appreciate the loved ones we have, more than ever.

If you are struggling this year, please reach out for help. Suicide and depression are real struggles for many people with the social isolation and restrictions. We want you to know that reaching out for help is never something to be ashamed of! The national suicide prevention hotline is 1-800-273-8255 (TALK).
