Throw the Perfect Ice Cream Party!

It’s summer, school is just about out, and it’s time to party! If you are looking for the ideal summer activity and a great way to kick off the season, an ice cream party is just right. You can invite your best friends over, and kick off your shoes by the pool. Here’s a few ways to make your party Pinterest and Instagram-worthy:

-Start with homemade ice cream: We like THIS RECIPE from Allrecipes.com. Homemade ice cream is not only healthier than store bought, it is also more inexpensive to make. This is perfect for when you are feeding lots of friends. A good rule of thumb is approx 1.5 cups per guest, and then add a few extras just so you don’t run out. Some guests may not have any dessert, and some may show up unannounced! Don’t forget to snag a pint of diary free treats at the store in case you have guests with allergies.

-Add the toppings: Here are some of our favorite topping ideas: gummy bears, sprinkles, chocolate chips, nuts (be careful of allergies), fruit like strawberries and blueberries, crushed pineapple, rice Krispy cereal or treats, chocolate syrup, butterscotch chips, and dark chocolate pretzels. Use disposable bowls or cups for the toppings to make cleanup simple, and to avoid contact allergies.

-Send invites: I love Canva for easy and pretty invitations. You can send them via PDF on text messages, or you can upload your finished design to have them printed at a local print shop. It’s free for most images, and $1 for others, which means they are budget friendly, and also look very chic.

-Make ice cream “cupcakes”: Bake a standard cake mix inside plain ice cream cones and add frosting for a themed dessert than goes well with an ice cream bar and toppings! They always come out really cute, and are extremely low-stress to bake. Plus, you won’t have any paper cups or wrappers to deal with, since the guests just eat the crispy cone! We recommend using a Funfetti cake mix.

-Add an adorable theme: You can find really affordable decor at the dollar store, as well as places like Hobby Lobby, and throw a great party for under $50. I love the sparkly pennant banners and striped napkins they carry year-round, and they would look amazing for a dessert themed bash. Some fun ideas are:

-Hawaiian luau
-Black and white polka dots and stripes
-Gold and pink
-Retro 50’s style decor

Enjoy your time with your friends!
