Wearing the Midi Skirt for a Senior Session (and all summer long!)

Maybe you’re thinking the midi skirt is too dowdy, retro, or not your thing. But, we hope you’ll let us show you some of the cutest and most stylish options out there, because we bet you just may find your new summer staple (that can carry you right into fall!). We will show you below the very best in available midi skirts, and how you can wear them with anything, no matter your personal style. The Madewell Midi Skirt: We like this simple green color, because it goes with everything, but is more interesting than denim. They always pair their midi skirts with graphic tees, but we like this one with a simple tank and sandals. Best of all, this skirt comes in a print and a solid dark green, and it has the cutest double drawstrings at the waist that make it a bit more sporty and fun than a traditional skirt. Try this skirt with a tee like this one.

The dressier JCrew clipdot Midi: If you’re needing the perfect skirt for work, a wedding, or a more dressy occasion, this one will fit the bill. It’s got a fuller skirt, pretty pattern, and looks good with a crewneck sweater or denim jacket for fall, or a plain white tee for summer events. To keep it from looking too old-fashioned or frumpy, make sure you do interesting accessories or cool sandals to give things a youthful and more fashion forward look. We like these colored, platform sandals to balance out the skirt.

The nineties-inspired skirt: A cool, lightweight midi skirt in a floral print can be matched with a really cute crop top for a look that’s straight from the nineties, and that is very on-trend. Try this look out with platform sandals and a lettuce edge babydoll tee, or make it more conservative with a clog or clunkier-heel shoe and a full length shirt.

The pleated midi skirt: This skirt is UNDER FIFTEEN DOLLARS! It’s the perfect way to break into the trend, and see if it works for you without breaking the bank. We like both the orange/coral and the light blue, and you can mix either color with a lot of other prints or solids to create several outfits. Forever 21 has tons of other affordable midi skirts that will look beautiful and will keep you on budget.

Take it into fall: All of these pretty skirts can be worn into the fall season, if you pair them with warmer items. Add tights in black or charcoal to keep your legs warm, and invest in some cute clogs or ankle boots that are really neutral (We like Lotta brand clogs). For jackets, layer a cardigan or a jean jacket over a fitted tee to keep the cuts from overwhelming your body and making it look like you are drowning in fabric! Lastly, for a really edgy look, a cropped leather jacket will give your outfit a little more oomph.

I’d love to help you style a midi skirt for your senior photos! Plus, you know you can wear it after your session, and for several seasons to come. Stay tuned to our blog for the latest fashion news!
