What 2 Wear Wednesdays | The Skater Skirt!

Looking for easy, breezy outfits this summer? We all want something that we can throw on and feel amazing in! Did you know that skater skirts are actually named after the short, floaty skirts worn by ice-dancers? Their shape and length were the inspiration for fashion designers in the 90’s, and they are making a comeback today for just about every season. In fall, you’ll see this silhouette in wool and corduroy, though they are best suited for lighter fabrics like cotton, polyester, or heavier blends. The reason so many people love the skater skirt is that it is flattering for every body type! It adds curves and femininity to smaller frames, and flatters curves on pear-shaped frames. It brings every wearer a classy waistline and a fun, twirly style! We love the styles below, especially paired with simple camis or tees and sandals. Try putting a neon bright skater skirt with a grey or neutral tee for a pop of color that balances itself out. They can even transition to a more dressy event depending on the fabric and the length (opt for a bit longer length and fabric like chiffon or tulle to give you a more formal look).
