The poncho is SUCH a versatile piece, and is something you should invest in for fall. Though the word “poncho” makes people think of a shapeless cape, it can actually be flattering for all body types, and it comes in a variety of price points, to fit every budget. What could be better than that? With the rise of the poncho trend comes the seasonal approach of plaid. There’s nothing more festive than a plaid top for the holiday season, and we love the one in the top left of this Polyvore board, which would look adorable with a cream tee, skinny jeans, and ankle boots with fringe for every occasion from family dinner to beating the crowds while christmas shopping. For a less trendy piece, try a taupe, retro inspired number like the (top row, second from the left) poncho below. You could layer this over a plain chambray top and black skinny jeans or leggings, and a classic cognac boot. Aztec styled ponchos are also beautiful, and can be a little more bohemian or indie for the fashion forward senior.
